MISSION
Slimmer Health Online Home Video is 1 piece of the puzzle to move the Slimmer Health Movement SHM forward. SHM is a global movement starting in April 1 2026 that’s about being “slimmer” to a point that’s ideal for each person. The benefits are a slimmer look, better overall health, and better quality of life. Following this effect, will be the improvement of global overweight and obesity.
DEFINITION
The BMI determines if someone is overweight (25-29.9) or obese (30 and up). It’s a good indicator for most people. To find out your BMI, CLICK HERE . Then, return to this page.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS MOVEMENT
- The benefits are broad because it encompasses appearance, health (physical, mental, and emotional), and quality of life.
- It’s welcoming because many people can be slimmer and have benefits. “SLIM” is different than “SLIMMER”. For example, some women are 5’5 at 130 pounds. This is slim. However, this would be hard and unhealthy for some women to be this slim. But say a person who is 5’5 at 200 pounds has health challenges at that weight. While it’s not realistic or healthy for her to be 130 pounds, she will still benefit from being slimmer at 150 pounds, hence the word “SLIMMER”.
- Focus on “PROGRESS” not “PERFECTION”. Everyone can progress.
- Many people want a slimmer look, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a slim look. Beauty is more than a look. It’s in a person’s mind, character, personality, and lifestyle. There’s beauty in living a healthier lifestyle!
- Health benefits can be increased energy, increased strength, better stamina, improved mobility, improved blood pressure, improved heart rate, less joint pain, and more. Hence the word health in the movement.
- By being slimmer to a point and healthier, this allows us to be more functional, and live a better quality of life. We can do more of the things we enjoy. We can work more and make more money.
HOW SERIOUS IS GLOBAL OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY?
Social media can distort a person’s perception of reality. Why? Because it highlights people who are fit. People who are not fit are not highlighted much. Then you think mostly everyone is fit when in reality, that’s not the case. In fact, if you step out into the real world in person, you’ll see reality for what it is.
Now, you your perception can also be distorted if you hang around a certain group of people who are fit or in certain parts of the world. Because remember, we are not looking at overweight and obesity at just a select group of people, such as on social media, or certain group of athletes, or certain parts of the world. What we are looking at here is the world numbers as a whole overall. You also need the awarness to really be able to see this. Here are the facts:
- Global overweight and obesity has been on a rapid rise for the last 50 years from 1975 to now 2025.
- World Obesity Federation predicts if current trends continue, more than half the world 51%, more than 4 billion people, will be overweight or obese in less than 10 years by 2035, unless urgent action is taken.
- 75% of Americans are overweight and obese.
- 68% of Canadians are overweight and obese.
- 60% of Russians are overweight or obese.
- China, a country with the second highest population 1.42 billion people, once considered slimmer, has over half their adult population 51% classified as overweight and obese.
- India, a country with the highest population around 1.46 billion people, once considered slimmer, has 70% of their urban population classified as overweight and obese.
CONSEQUENCES OF OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY
- APPEARANCE: Too much excess weight is not a look many people want.
- HEALTH: Too much excess weight increases the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, cancers, musculoskeletal problems, joint pain, breathing problems, premature death, disability, depression, and self esteem.
- QUALITY OF LIFE: Too much excess weight lowers your quality of life. It’s harder to do things when you have less energy and capability. For example, while it may still be possible to do these things, it will be harder to garden, do yard work, play sports, jog, run, hike, cycle, or move.
- ECONOMIC IMPACT: Per the World Obesity Atlas, the economic impact of global overweight and obesity will be 4.32 trillion annually by 2035. A trillion is a massive number. It increases healthcare costs which then increases our taxes. People can’t work as much when they are sick and have less energy.
CAUSES OF OVERWEIGHT AND OBESITY
While there are many causes, here are the key causes:
- CHOICE: Each person has to some responsibility for their lives as a result of their choices; however, at the same time, the system of the modern day lifestyle makes it easy to be overweight and obese.
- DIET: We eat too many calories and too much unhealthy processed foods. They are too easily available.
- PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: We do not get enough physical activity, which has been assisted by technology. People live behind screens (phones, tv, and computers). People spend too much time on the internet and social media. There are more desk jobs and less labor jobs. This leads to sedentary lives.
- STRESS: There’s more stress in a fast pace world. This increases the hormone cortisol which promotes fat storage.
- LACK OF SLEEP: A lack of sleep can affect our hormones causing us to consume more calories.
- GENETICS: Certain genetics predispose us to weight gain easily.
